MONUMENTA MONTENEGRINA
The edition of Monumenta Montenegrina, conceived as a collection of testimonies about Dukljaand Zeta in the Middle Ages, includes documents, materials and sources collected by theorganizer Vojislav D. Nikčević abroad, and they show the continuity of political centers ofreligious and state power in todays Montenegro from the 4 th to the 15 th century. The historicalexistence and awareness of Montenegro about its own state are inseparably linked to thetradition of the Diocese of Duklja and Prevalite Mitropoly, which are among the oldest inEurope, then the institution of the Archbishorpic of Bar, which was the bearer of state powersof several South Slavic states during the Middle Ages, in the Kingdom of Dalmatia, Zahumlje,the mighty Kingdom of the Slavs, to the Kingdom of Serbia and the state which, at the end of itspower, was created by the Nemanjić dinasty. The edition in question was created fromcollected documents from world-famous collections. It chronologically follows the eventsrelated to the holders of power, whether they are rulers, high church figures or episcopal seatswhich in the Middle Ages consolidated, through the ideology of Christianity, the power ofcertain dynasties or the awareness of belonging to one of the two centers of ecumenical power- Constantinople or Rome.
